Blog moved & (hopefully) fixed

Not sure when or how it happened but my blog was flagged as malicious by Google & Firefox.

When I looked into it I saw quite a lot of bad links, some that I couldn’t work out how to fix (couldn’t find any trace of some pages and links that were reported as having problems). I recently moved web hosts so maybe these problems were caused when restoring the backed up blog at the new location?

I also found that some malware links had been inserted into some of my pages. Not sure how this was done, but I was able to remove those.

So I’ve hopefully managed to fix the problems and also moved the blog to http://blog.iconaholic.com/

If you were subscribing to the RSS feed then please subscribe to the new one, the old one won’t work anymore.

    Hi

The problem is because someone hacked your blog. Google and Firefox recognise these new links added to your code. They usually have weird names and some are actual files.

The easiest way tound this is to delete the site and upload a backup copy, then follow the links in firefox (the one with the red warning) and you can then contact google to have your site removed from the list.

Attacks like this happen with most content management systems.

Yea, that makes sense. I did find some crap in there. But I did delete it & restore a backup.

It successfully removed the crap, but Google kept on reporting bad links to feeds of posts I’d deleted in the past (no longer wanted). Nothing was linking to them & as far as I could tell they didn’t exist. There were lots of these & I couldn’t find any way of fixing them.
